Dec 11, 2015

YSRCP President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy speaking at a public meet at Chintapalle in Visakhapatnam district said that No government has the right to go against Tribal people’s wishes when it comes to bauxite mining.

Addressing the massive gathering of tribals at a public meet, “Whoever may be the Chief Minister be it Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy or N. Chandrabababu Naidu or even Jaganmohan Reddy, none can take up the bauxite mining against the wishes of the tribal people,”Mr.Jagan recalled that the Late CM Rajasekhar Reddy had once proposed the bauxite mining but hadn’t taken it up, after tribals opposed to it. But Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, who had opposed the issue when he was in Opposition is pushing the issue after coming into power. He added that Mr.Naidu has been twisting the facts conveniently to suit it to his interests by releasing a white paper saying that the Jerella gram panchayat had passed a resolution supporting mining.

The Opposition Leaders assured the tribals that he would stand by them and fight for them against the Government’s anti-people policies over bauxite mining. He demanded the TDP government to withdraw the GO permitting the mining activity in agency areas.
