Telangana gets 45,217 houses under PM Awas Yojana scheme

Dec 22, 2015

The Centre under the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme has approved 45,217 houses for Telangana, after the Centre had earlier sanctioned 10,219 houses for 10 cities in Telangana and AP was allotted one lakh houses.

It was a positive move from the NDA government, after TRS government criticizing the Centre and targeting State BJP for neglecting Telangana State. Of the 45000 plus houses granted by the Centre, the GHMC region gets 29,531 units which is not a surprising move just before the elections of GHMC.

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya has met the Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and urged him to sanction more units under Centre Housing Scheme. Mr. Dattatreya informed that Urban Development ministry granted 73 projects involving 45,217 houses for economically backward sections of Telangana, with a total assistance of 678 crores.
