Dec 23, 2015

Raising the issue of YSRCP MLA Roja’s suspension in the Assembly for over a year, TDP MLAs have demanded her suspension to be extended for the rest of her tenure till end 2019, due to her alleged abusive language and gestures used against dalit MLAs.

Ruling Telugu Desam MLA V Anita demanded MLA Roja’s suspension till 2019, explaining how the latter had made personalised accusations against her. Minister Peethala Sujatha questioned how Opposition Leader YS Jagan could support MLA Roja, even after she tried character assassination of a dalit woman.

TDP Senior Leader Butchaiah Chowdary also spoke against Roja requesting the Speaker to lodge non-bailable cases against Ms. Roja for her abusive comments and demanded that she be arrested with immediate effect. Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao responding to the demands of the TDP MLAs said that he will examine the video tapes and comments made by MLA Roja in her last sessions. After the examination is completed, Speaker will be taking appropriate action on the issue.
