Raghuveera Reddy pressures CM on Special Status

With the Opposition parties in AP continuing pressurizing the State government on the demand for special category status, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded requested Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to hold the all-party delegation in New Delhi to meet PM Narendra Modi and discuss with him on the grant of special category status to the State which was assured on the floor of Lok Sabha.

APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy has asked Mr.Naidu to make certain to meet the all party leaders with the Prime Minister during the Parliament ongoing sessions, to bring pressure on the Centre to concede the separate category status to AP. In an open letter to AP Chief Minister, N Raghuveera Reddy stated that it is right time to lead the delegation to New Delhi as Parliament is in session. He also added that his party would to bear the expenses of his party leaders, who will form the team instead of being financial burden on the exchequer.

“It was expected that Chandrababu Naidu would take up the special category issue with Mr. Narendra Modi when the latter visited the State for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new capital Amaravati. However he failed to raise the issue during the meeting,” he said. Centre however has earlier ruled out several times on the possibility of allotting special status to any State, including Andhra Pradesh.
